Who are Woods Island Outfitters?

We are a Newfoundland heritage outdoor brand, named for Woods Island, a resettled outport in the Bay of Islands on the island's west coast. We make premium crested apparel for the wild country and the people raised on it. Not joke shirts, not tourist tees. The real thing.

Where are your shirts made?

Every piece is printed in Canada and made to order. We do not hold stock or overproduce. When you order, we make it.

What garment do you print on?

We print on the Comfort Colors 1717, a heavyweight, garment-dyed, ring-spun cotton tee. It is a substantial shirt with a soft, broken-in feel from the first wear. Because it is garment-dyed, small variations in colour and wash from piece to piece are normal and part of the character.

How do they fit?

True to size with a classic, slightly relaxed cut. It is not a slim or fitted tee. If you like a roomier, lived-in fit, take your usual size. If you want it closer, consider sizing down. Check the size guide before you order, since each shirt is made to order.

Will it shrink?

Garment-dyed cotton can shrink a touch on the first wash. Our size guide measurements account for a normal cold wash and low dry. To keep the fit, follow the care notes below.

How do I care for it?

Wash cold, inside out, with like colours. Tumble dry low or hang to dry. Skip the bleach and the hot dryer. Garment-dyed cotton is meant to soften and fade gently with time. That is the point, not a flaw.

How long until I get my order?

Each piece is made to order, so most orders arrive within about 10 to 14 business days. We take a few days to print and prepare it, then it ships with tracking. Out around the bay and the far corners of the country can run a little longer.

Do you ship outside Canada?

We ship across Canada today. If you are ordering from away, email info@woodsislandoutfitters.ca and we will see what we can do.

What is your return policy?

If your order arrives with a defect, a misprint, the wrong item, or shipping damage, we will replace or refund it. Email us within 30 days with your order number and a photo. Because every piece is made to order, we cannot take returns or exchanges for change of mind or wrong size, so please use the size guide and reach out if you are unsure.

Can I change or cancel my order?

We start making orders quickly, so there is only a short window. Email info@woodsislandoutfitters.ca right away and we will help if it has not gone into production.

Are these limited?

The crest collection is our standing line, available now. Down the road we will do seasonal limited drops, and when one of those is gone, it is gone. Get on the list if you want first word.

Do you make hoodies and hats?

Not yet on the site. They are coming as part of a seasonal kit we are building. The best way to know the moment they land is to join the list and follow along.
